On Friday 24 November Georgia, Gene and Medea addressed a group of teachers and principals at the Bastowe Institute of Educational Leadership. Irene was doing a presentation about student voice and specifically the impact student feedback on their teachers and classes has had. The students did not require any preparation and were able to speak articulately about their position within the school, the respectful way they were treated and the fact that they were consulted on aspects of teaching and learning was more of an incentive to come to school and a motivating factor to put in their maximum effort. The adults that interviewed our students were very impressed and during the morning tea break were talking to other people about how impressed they were by the ‘young people from Sydney Road Community School.’
